“Twas the week before Christmas when all through our house

Not a present was wrapped, not even for my spouse.

The tree was half lit with a strand that went out

I tussled with the cord and let out a large shout.

Last minute shopping was still on my list

So I headed to the internet to fulfill every last wish.

Shipping was outrageous, so I rethought my plan

One more trip to the mall was more than I could stand.

Homemade cookies and candy still had to be made.

So I put on my apron and began the charade.

The peanut butter balls were misshapen but yummy.

The sugar cookies and crinkles were sure to please any tummy.

The hustle and bustle will continue until Christmas Eve

It’s a yearly tradition that persists without reprieve.

I’ve learned there’s no such thing as a perfect Holiday

So I’ve stopped all the stressing and instead I pray

For a joyful and peaceful, prosperous year

For my family and friends and those I hold dear.”
